Celebrating Holidays Around the World

During the month of December, we researched the many ways the holiday season is celebrated by cultures around the world. Some of the celebrations we learned about were Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Christmas in Mexico, etc. Below is a slide show of many of our activities - what a fun unit!

Mrs. Spurlin KISSED A PIG!!!!!

During Book Week in November, TCE had a goal to read 1,000 AR points. The teacher of the reader who earned the most points in each grade level by Thursday afternoon had to kiss a pig! Guess what?!?!?! Joseph was the top Kindergarten AR reader and I had to KISS a pig! It was a cute little pig, but I don't know that I'll need to do that ever again, haha!

Our Thanksgiving/Pajama Group Photo!!!

Though it's January, I wanted to share this photo of our class from the end of November. We are growing and learning so much every day! It's so hard to believe this year is already half over!

Book Character Day!

In November, we celebrated our love of reading during Book Week! This
year's theme for Book Week was "Let's Get Hog Wild Over Reading;" each
day we had the opportunity to dress up to show our love of reading. Our
favorite day was Book Character Day! The Kindergarten teachers and many
of the students dressed up like one of our favorite characters, Pete the
Cat! Please see the slide show below to see if you can guess the other
characters!

Our Class Pumpkin

Our classroom chose to create a character from "Glad Monster, Sad
Monster" for the Fall Festival this year! Our character was the Angry
Pumpkin; we all worked together to turn our regular pumpkin into a
masterpiece!!! What fun we had!!!

Candy Corn Graphing

In October, we used Starburst candy corn to graph by color. After we
completed the graphs, we analyzed the results with our tables. We
identified the color that we had the most of, the color we had the least
of, and if any one had equal groups of colors. The best part of
all....we got to eat one of each color and take the rest home!!!! :)
