Classroom Management
This year, Taylors Creek is adopting a school-wide discipline system known as PBIS. With this system, students will receive a warning when misbehavior occurs. If the behavior continues after the warning, the rule will be restated and the student will move to level one (green). If misbehavior continues, the rule will be restated and the student will move to level 2 (yellow), level 3 (orange), and level 4 (red). At level 3 (orange), the student will visit a kindergarten reteaching room to practice the rules at Taylors Creek. At level 4 (red), the student will be sent to the office.
In addition to this system, I also have a system of positive reinforcement in place. When students are "caught" making good choices, they are awarded with a green ticket. Once the student has collected seven green tickets, he/she may visit the treasure box. Our school-wide positive reinforcement initiative involves teachers rewarding students with a golden ticket for positive behavior in the hall, cafeteria, playground, bathroom, etc. These tickets are collected as a grade level and will result in extra recess or another treat.

Curriculum
The curriculum will be based on the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS). The CCGPS require children to be actively engaged in their learning across all content areas. Your child will be tested according to the kindergarten Common Core Georgia Performance Standards.
"Boomerang" Folder
Your child will be given a boomerang (take-home) folder. This folder will be used as a means of communication between home and school. Anything I send home (notes, school information, class work, homework, behavior calendars, etc.) will be put in this folder. Please check this folder daily. Please place lunch money (in a labeled bag or envelope) and notes in your child's folder.
Homework
Your child’s daily homework will be place in his/her boomerang folder. Please make sure your child is completing his/her homework.
